" The hotel is located in a quieter..." The hotel is located in a quieter soi on Sukhumvit. The friendly owner is one of the hosts for the hotel which makes the stay pleasant, and anything that is needed is easily communicable. The rooms are clean and probably what I would expect from a guesthouse at this price. If you want an uncomplicated stay with no frills then this it.

I took a chance on this hotel as it's new and there weren't any reviews on the usual sites. We just needed somewhere central to stay for not much money that wasn't an absolute hole. This is exactly what the MHC is. We had a nice sized room with decent shower, AV, TV, fridge and it was all clean and pretty new. The price was 750THB when we stayed (Feb '10), which is excellent value. The SkyTrain and Sukhumvit Rd are just round the corner. The staff were extremely helpful and the owner was very chatty and nice too and really went the extra mile when it came to getting us a taxi to the airport, making sure we had instructions written in Thai telling the driver to take the route that avoided the expressway and he got one of his staff to get the taxi for us and ensure it used the metre. We got to the airport for 200THB this way whereas coming in via the Expressway on a fixed rate it was 400THB plus another 75THB in tolls. It's not the Mandarin Oriental but if you want a basic clean room for a budget price then this will do nicely

I had the pleasure of stopping in at the MHC - Guesthouse in Bangkok in early June on the way to Madagascar . I had never been to Bangkok and had no idea what was where , where to eat , shop and have a beer . I booked into the MHC and at the time received very helpful advice on taxis etc from the airport so as not to get ripped off . Max and his sfaff were extremely helpful and what a great place to stay ! I had a key to the front door and was offered a cold beer and was told to help myself to the fridge and just to mark down on a pad if I had more ! A very refreshing , trusting visit in todays day and age ! I stopped there again on the way home to NZ and the treatment was the same ! Max is a retired Pilot who enjoys meeting people and rest assured that you WILL be well looked after .You will be looked after like an old friend and if you are looking for somewhere clean and tidy that is handy to everything, you cannot go past Max's place . If you have never been to Bangkok and need to know where to ( and not to ) eat ,shop and watch the All Blacks win - you cannot get better bang for your baht ! Would I stay there again ...AB-SO-BLOODY-LUTELY ! Thanks Max for your hospitality - Brilliant ! Peter "Stumpy" Sharpe Plimmerton NZ

MHC Guesthouse has many features that are beyond compare! Firstly, its owner Mr. Max is efficient, kind, and is willing to help in any way possible to satisfy his guests. There was no booking fee involved and one can pay on checking-in. This was great for me since I do not wish to use credit cards via the internet. Max forward taxi instructions from the airport to the guesthouse in Thai and in English along with his personal telephone numbers which helped us save extra taxi fare. Our taxi driver had no problems following these directions at all. Once we were at the guesthouse, payment was the last thing Max was looking for. He made us comfortable offered us a drink, gave us lots of information on how to take the sky train and the metro. MHC Guesthouse is situated on Sukhumvit Soi 28 very close (3 min.) to the Phrom Phong sky train station. It is very convenient to take the sky train or the MRT around BKK rather than taking taxis. Next, we were shown to our room which was a very pleasant A/C room with a fan, a fridge lots of locker space, cable TV, and a very clean bathroom with hot water. For the amount he charge the room was a great bargain! We were allowed to use the kitchen facility at any time we needed. Max even contacted our tour guides to confirm our tours and the transfers. He never charged for the local phone calls he made on behalf of us - turly, Max took very good care of us - His guests!!! Also, Max was more than willing to store our extra luggage at the guesthouse when we had to travel to other parts of Thailand and we always received the same room clean and fresh when we got back to BKK. Guys, our positive experiences having chosen to stay at MHC Guesthouse are countless! I recommend this pleasant, affordable, convenient and comfortable accomodation to anyone (single, group, or couple) because it is just a fabulous place to stay. It is a place you can call home away from home!! Thank you Max, and Ka for making our holiday a great one. Your kindness and helpfulness is greatly appreciated!! Best Wishes,

What an incredible stay! For a first-timer in Bangkok, my friends and I had no idea what sort of trouble we were getting into. Luckily for us, Maxiboy (aka the proprietor, aka Quagmire) is the man to know in this town. Coming from the airline industry (he was a professional airline pilot for more than 30 years!) Max knows how to keep customers happy and coming back for more
he is an outstanding operator in the service field. The amenities are brilliant at this guesthouse every room is named after one of the aircraft hes flown in his life. Safe, clean, professional, fun, and unique are the words I would use to describe the guesthouse. Now, when it comes to the local scene, Maxiboy is pro. From the moment we landed we had a printout written in Thai of how to get to the guesthouse without getting taken advantage of. Upon arrival, cold beer was waiting for us what a treat after a long flight! We discussed our plans for the night and he gave us turn-by-turn directions to get to Soy Cowboy (outstanding nightlife) as well as Pat Pong. Pat Pong
whew
what an experience AGAINST Maxiboys advice, my friends and I went to Pat Pong to see a ping pong show
next time Im bringing a cell phone and the number for the tourist police that is all I have to say about that. Maxiboy was right
what a rip off! The following day had us take the public ferry up the river to the "last stop" -- excellent recommendation by Maxiboy and we really got a feel for the city and true Bangkok culture (not the touristy stuff). Total cost - less than 1 us dollar. Worth every penny! Yet another great call by Max. Max has turned this guesthouse into a home. Honest to god, it really feels like home when youre there
the kind of home that you always wanted but never thought you could build! Well Maxiboy has done it! Please remember in case of an emergency, oxygen masks may deploy from overhead. Secure the mask to your face, take a deep breath, and tuck your head between your legs youre in for the ride of your life! Thanks for all Maxiboy see you in 2011! Danny, Brett, and Tom Team USA

Hello, Mr.Max. I stayed your Guesthouse from 10 Aug to 12 Aug. I was introduced from Mr.Uehara (Next to Maruki's owner) I thought your Guesthouse was very good. (it had good equipment and cleaned) I'm coming to Bangkok twice a month. Because I'm studying English. And I like a air plane. (I'm aboard airplane about 70 times every year) So, I would like to talk you about airplane. I'm looking forward to meeting to you.

I stayed in MHC guesthouse from 29 Aug to 31 Aug. I felt like I'm at home always. The staff there are so nice and helpful, especially Max, the boss of the guesthouse, he's brilliant, always ready to offer his hand. Once i booked up the guesthouse, I got a "getting a taxi instruction with the address in Thai" from him at the same time. Following the instruction, i saved 200 balt in the trip from airport to his guesthouse.
The place what I can say "clean, quiet, safe and convenient". It's located in Sukhumvit, just 3 mins walk to the BTS and 5 mins walk to Emporium.
Thank you very much Max and Kar, thank you for your hospitality making my holiday so great. Hope to see you guys again very soon and best wishes ^^ |

I stay at the Mile High Club every time I'm in Bangkok. Being a pilot myself I feel at home in this aviators paradise. You meet all kinds of people from around the world at the MHC. The rooms are tastefully decorated & very clean & safe. I enjoy sitting at the bar talking with Max (owner) & other guests. Very cheap beer, big screen tv with all the latest sports. Music for all tastes. If your coming to Bangkok I highly recommend the MHC guesthouse. Located right next to Phrom Phong BTS skytrain. Now you can travel on the Airport link train from the Airport to Phaya Thai station, then a short walk to the BTS where it will take you only twenty minutes to the MHC guesthouse. Thanks Max, see you soon. Paul |

None for a hotel of this class The room was quite spacious, clean and essentially but cleverly furnished. Very good performance of staff and owner. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and healthy. Very close to skytrain station and just an easy reach from Sukhumvit road, where taxis and city buses can be easily catched. The neighbourhood glistens with nightlife. After living in Thailand for nearly 17 months, I can honestly say this is one of the best places for the value I have stayed at. It's convenient to BTS (Sky train) and in a quieter location on sukhumvit. The staff are warm and friendly and the location is incredibly safe and near the end of the street so you are not too far from all the action of Bangkok but also not in the middle of it. The room was incredibly clean and I had great free WI-FI service. The owner, Max, was very accommodating to my needs and was wonderful in trying to make this place become my secound home. He was great at letting me know if I needed anything, I could easily approach him. I highly recommend this place over others for those on a moderate budget. It's the best value for your money. Thank you MHC-Guesthouse for a pleasant stay. I will most certainly use you again. |

I resided at the Mile High Club Guest House during the months of September and October of 2009. I was treated like a member of the family. No where, in the Eastern Hemisphere, have I ever encountered a sense of such warmth, hospitality, and camaraderie. Max, and his entire staff have created an establishment that possess that charm and tidiness of a well maintained English Style Hotel. If you are in Bangkok for business, pleasure, or a combination of the above, for a day, month, or longer, no where, will you be better situated, logistically, to access to one of the world's most modern mass transit systems. Strategically located near most major foreign consulates, financial institutions, and a myriad of multinational corporate offices. Very favorable rates make a longer stay then expected very affordable. The rooms are secure, cozy, and furnished in good taste. After a good night sleep, you can start the day with a fresh cup of coffee, or tea, downstairs in the kitchen, before embarking on your day. Each room is equipped with a lightening fast internet connection, and ample room to accommodate your computer, scanner, and additional equipment. You are less than a ten minute walk from an outstanding dry cleaner, office supply store, and one of the best holistic therapeutic Thai family massage centers. Nestled in an exclusive, tranquil, and green pocket of Bangkok, you will have accomplished more, and will undoubtedly have more fun, when you stay at The Mile High Club Guesthouse. Peter Lord |

"I know of only one reasonable place to stay when in BKK - it is clean, convenient, and has just the right amount of culture. Plus the proprietor of the MHC is very good guy from the UK. I have to recommend his place as very suitable for either short or longer stays in downtown BKK if you want to be close to everything but at the same time have a quiet place to get away". |

Absolutely no problems with my last minute stay at MHC. Booked online and within an hour had a confirmation call from the owner Max offering directions. Minutes from Phrom Prong BTS and right at the top of the Soi so no scouring dodgy neighbourhoods to find it. The room was simple but had all the essentials and was spotlessly so makes a perfect crashpad for overnight stay and being on BTS is minutes away from the action of lower Sukhumvit. A bargain for the money and a definite return next time Im on an overnight in BKK. |

I discovered the MHC Guesthouse completely by accident. And a wonderful accident it was.
Max (the ex-pilot owner) is a warm, friendly individual, and I had a great time just chatting away with him. The rooms are awesome for their price, they have an attached bathroom, TV, AC, fridge, safe, high-speed hi-fi etc. The bar and kitchen downstairs have everything you need. It's just a 2-minute walk from the BTS sky train, and close to restaurants, street vendors, shopping plazas, the works.
I'm definitely a big fan! I'll be coming to Bangkok again in a month's time, and I'm surely coming back to the MHC Guest"home". |

We stayed at the MHC-Guesthouse on two occasions while visiting our daughter who is teaching in Bangkok. We used different rooms on each occasion and both times we found them to be comfortable and clean. Max, the owner, is a lovable character and worth chatting with. The prices for room rental were very fair and the hotel is not far from the Skytrain and the amazing Emporium shopping mall. We highly recommend this guesthouse for budget-minded travellers and we plan to stay there again next year. |

Dream location,MHC is tucked at the mouth of quite Soi 5 min walk to BTS and bus station,no need to hire taxi.Experiencing problem with Thai spicy food there is great super market just across the road.MAX - proprietor,an English gentleman makes sure that you will have memorable holiday in BANGKOK.He mailed to us instructions for taxi driver written in Thai, what road to take from airport to MHC avoiding being deliberately driven around cutting the bill in half. His staff is very kind and fluent in English always ready to provide advice and know-how in scam prone BANGKOK.They gave us detailed advice how to travel cheaply to CAMBODIA and took care of our luggage during trip there.Upon return our room was waiting for us giving a feel coming back home.Taking in consideration what you pay this is really jewel. We stayed at the MHC guest house a few days ago and had a very pleasant stay.
On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the proprietor, Max, who between roars of raucous laughter seemed to spend most of his time chatting with the guests (from all parts of the world) and creating a cosy intimate atmosphere in the reception area where we all quickly got to know each-other. This was particularly useful for comparing notes about travelling in Thailand although Max provided much of the useful information about local transport, shopping, sight seeing etc.. I cannot recall experiencing a more friendly environment in a guest house or hotel.
The air conditioned rooms were spacious, well furnished and most of all very clean. The bathroom was bright and the separate shower unit was of modern design with fast running hot water. The location was excellent, situated in a quiet soi but only a stones throw from the main Sukhumvit road. It is only a short walk to Phrom Phong BTS station and good bus service to the main shopping areas, and Max will tell you which bus to catch!
I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, especially if they appreciate good company and a social atmosphere in addition to a comfortable stay and I think they will find it good value for their money.

I stayed in this guest-house for more than 20 days and everyday I felt that I like it more than the day before. Mr.Max, the owner of this place has made a nice place to stay which is even more comfortable than some luxurious hotels in bangkok with robo personnel. during my days staying there I was honestly feeling it's my second home. rooms are lovely, clean and more important than anything else there is always someone to answer to your questions friendly with a smile on her/his face. and more than anything else I have found some good friends by staying there in the person of Mr.Max and his employees. |

MHC Guest House is conveniently located 5 minutes walk from Prom Pong Sky Train station. Lots of pubs, places to eat, shops, massage etc within walking distance. Close to the main Sukhumvit Road and there are building works opposite, but it wasn't noisy. Parking is limited to a couple of slots outside. Owner, manager is British, friendly and welcoming. As a budget place to stay, this is good value for money. |

Staying at MHC was like staying at a friends house. Rooms are comfortable and clean and a real bargain. Location is a stones throw from Sukhumvit and a very short walk to Phrrom Phong BTS station. The low cost of the rooms and nice, central location are attractive, but the homey atmosphere appealed to me the most. And being a pilot (a lowly private pilot) I really enjoyed talking to Max and listening to his flying stories (and those of his pilot friends who came by). Can't wait to read his book, when he finds time to write it. I was very impressed in seeing how well Max treats his staff and how helpful he is to his guests. He and his staff treat guests more like friends than customers. No question where I will be staying in any future visit to Bangkok. Paul Maclellan.(Pilot) 7th.Feb 2011 |

Max Barbara and I arrived back home on Thursday the 24th at about 14:30 MST (19:30 UTC). All is well, and we would both like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for an excellent stay. Your guidance and attention to our needs extended far beyond the few days we spent at your comfortable facilities. Your personal attention made our entire vacation in Thailand most enjoyable. Having your phone number in our pocket was like having the phone number of a trusted friend available should we ever need it. We look forward to returning to again visit Thailand, and when we do, our plans will include MHC

Date of review: Mar 5, 2011 We showed up early to a guest house we had reservations at and they were unable to accommodate us so the owner called Max the owner of MHC and he had only one room when we needed 2 but he had the housekeeper clean up his own room and let us have it. Very nice. Max is also a real crack up, so I would not recommend MHC to anyone with out a good sense of humor. He is funny!

Fab little place!
MHC Guesthouse is a fab little place! We booked for 2 nights and stayed on because we felt so at home. Max and his staff are brilliant! So helpful, Max even emailed me directions in Thai (for taxi driver) and English from the airport with helpful hints on avoiding getting ripped off which was perfect to us as it was our 1st time in Thailand. Also has free wifi which was perfect for us as we were booking our onward journeys on-line. The Guest house is in a quiet lane so you'll get a good night sleep but a short walk from the Skytrain to take your round the city. The closest stop is 2stops from the livelier area of Sukhumvit. ALso a 2sec walk up the lane takes you to the main road where you can flag down a taxi o hop on a bus. Thanks Max!! |

We loved MHC so much when we stayed here at the start of our trip to Thailand we stayed here again on our last night in Bangkok. MHC is well situated in Sukhumvit, far enough away from the main drag to get a good nights sleep but close enough to be part of the bustle. Rooms are clean and well kept and Staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks to MAx and his team for another enjoyable stay! xx

Two stays at MHC Guesthouse
I stayed for 8 nights initially and went back for an additional 4 nights. Conveniently located on the Skytrain route, inexpensive 'restaraunts' in the area, high end supermarket across the road. Max and the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous with guests and each other. I was there long enough to see some of the challeges that Max faces; no-shows on some reservations, requests to extend stays beyond reservation dates (when the guesthouse is fully booked), arriving with more people than than the reservation indicated (when the guesthouse is fully booked). Max makes efforts to accomodate these changes and when unable to accomodate the changes makes an effort to help guests make alternative arrangements. I enjoyed my stay and will stay there again. |

Value For Money Hotel
Quiet and near to Phrom Phong BTS The hotel is small, facilities are basic but it is clean. The double room I stayed for 2 nights is spacious and located at the back, thus it is quiet (good). Hotel is very near to Phrom Phong BTS, thus making it very accesible. It is also within walking distance from the Emporium Shopping mall. Free Wifi is provided in the room as well as the lobby. Coffee and tea are free too, but only available in the lobby - self service. The owner and staff are very friendly and readily dispense advice on tourist related matters. The only drawback is that there is no lift, so guests with bulky luggage may have difficulty getting up the narrow stairs to the rooms.
Restaurant Tip : There are many Japanese restaurants nearer to the Phrom Phong BTS station. There are also 2 local eateries selling very good soup noodles at the beginning of nearby Soi 26. There are restaurants and a clean foodcourt at the top level of the Emporium Shopping Mall - Western & Eastern food. |

Great location and price on Sukhumvit.
Price, friendly service & location Arrived very early at this hotel and the hotel owner Max was very accommodating and allowed us to freshen up and leave our backpacks whilst getting us a room a lot earlier than the earliest check-in. The superior room (on a free upgrade) was very spacious, had a nice clean mattress and good sized bathroom. Probably the best accommodation you are going to find at this value in the area of Sukhumvit! The location of this hotel is extremely handy for the location of the BTS line on Sukhumvit Road where you can get out at one of 2 stops and have a 5-10 minute walk to the hotel. Construction works were talking place directly across the road but this never affected us at all |

Good Ghouse, Good place, Good mood!
MHC is near to Phrom phong BTS station exit4. U will find lot of massage shops, food stalls, and japanese resturants nearby! When i arrived, staffs greeted me w/a great smile. She took a copy of my passport and shown me my room. Room is clean, tidy, quite and comfortable. Air-con n water heater are great! U can enjoy free coffee n tea in every morning, but no breakfast. Max, the owner of guest house, is a British. Staffs can speak simple English as well. U can easily communicate with them. Tops mkt, NaRaYa, Emporium and a big Benjasiri park are nearby, not more than 5mins on foot to go. U can do little shopping before u leave. Also, there are few bus routes heading to the Siam shopping zone along the main road. It sounds good, right? :D Pls bring/buy, shampoo, toothbrush & toothpaste. I found no supply of these stuffs for last few days =.=! Maybe because all rooms are fully booked there. No bars/nightclubs nearby. |

The rooms are very clean and the stuff is very anxious to make sure that everything is perfect for you.The stuff and particularly the owner of the house are very friendly and honest people. They are really interested in helping you and not in getting you money. In my experience this is not self-evident in bangkok!

loved it here.great rooms, service and location.
the rooms were big and clean. the location was convenient and staff friendly and helpful My partner and I stayed here for a couple of days. It was fantastic. It is very homely and the rooms were spacious and clean. Max is a lovely man with a great sense of humour. He answered all our queries and nothing was too much trouble. He even looked after our bags when we went on a two day excursion to kanchanaburi. We liked it so much here we booked ourselves in for a further stay upon our return to Bangkok. We would highly recommend mhc as a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. |

Good Location with a high level off spoken English
The Owner MHC...Book for this one as it is often booked out with people extending their stay etc. The Owner and staff speak very good English. The owner creates an atmosphere of friendship and it is the strongest point of this hotel. Its close to the BTS sky train (easy to use) Bear in mind that the owner is a businessman 1st and a friend 2nd. Previous guests have asked him for favors that would have cost him money (as you may ask a friend). I think they felt betrayed when he declined them. The wifi works well and is free. |

Great spot on very quiet Soi 28 off Sukhumkit main road. Nine en-suite rooms run by Cap'n Max (aka Maxyboy) and his very helpful Thai staff. Easy to get around and just minutes from all the usual tourist hussle and noise. Max will give you great advice for all things around Bangkok. Great value and highly recommended. Google MHC and book direct. Max's tip #1, Arriving at the airport, go to LEVEL 4 Departures. Taxis dropping off will take you to city on the METER without the airport charge from arrivals. 200 bahts +70 bahts freeway to Sukhumvit area. Easy. |

cozy hotel with great location
great location (near BTS and Emporium); clean room We spent (including tips and 50B for the public taxi service from airport) to arrive the hotel from airport in the midnight. The bellman is kind and waiting for us, also helped us carry our baggages upstairs. It was not noisy outside our room and we slept well that night. If you want to go to the airport by public transportation, take BTS to Phaya Thai(N2) and transfer to City Line to the airport.
Shopping Tip : Near Emporium Shopping Mall, an expensive mall with nice food on the 4th floor. |

a home with value for money!!
of all the lanes, this was the quietest, cleanest and no hawkers or traffic, homely atmosphere, clean rooms with all amenities, few minutes walk to bts sky train, max the owner makes you feel at home. Before i booked, I read the reviews and it was all positive, wanted to try the experience of staying in a 20 US Dollar guest house, and it was worth more than the money paid, and I would go back again and again. Room comfort, Owner's friendly treatment, free wi-fi, easy access to BTS Skytrain, restaurants, shops and massage nearby makes it the ideal place to stay in Bangkok. |

In arriving in Bangkok at the MHC Guesthouse we were greeted by a nice boy who works in the lobby/bar. He was a great help at getting our bags up to our room on the third floor. The room was quite decent for the 20 dollars a night we paid. Hot water, comfy, bed and cold AC. Also well in was near a very busy road and steps from the sky train the guesthouse is very quite and I got a good nights sleep each night. Max the owner was also very nice and very helpful. I have no complaints about our stay at MHC!! |

My wife and I stayed at the MHC recently, having stayed there before, during our annual trips to Thailand. The standard of cleanliness compares well with other guesthouses and the rooms are of a reasonable size. The location is really convenient and that is important in Bangkok. You are literally a stone's throw from the Sukhumvit main street and close to the BTS railway station, you dont have to rely on tuk tuks or make long walks. Max, the proprietor, a retired airline pilot, gives very thorough and helpful advice to guests, beginning with the taxi fares from the airport and how to substantially minimise them. This kind of information is not so easily forthcoming from other guesthouses and hotels, some of whom might have an eye on their commissions. In our case we needed to do a Visa Run to Cambodia to renew our visa and he took us along to a tour operator that specialised in this operation, complete with document preparations and handling, saving us a whole lot of hassle. There is a unique air of informality and friendliness at the reception area that makes one feel at ease with other guests and staff where the exchange of experiences and ideas can be invaluable. Some previous reviews mention a smell in the single rooms. The guesthouse operates a moneyback guarantee system so I wonder why they did not mention it when they first moved in. We could not smell anything in our room. Anyway I understand from the management that it was found to be due to an overzealous use of an air freshener spray. We did not notice any mosquitoes in our room and no one else complained of this however I suppose if you leave the window open then you are inviting them in for supper! I would certainly recommend a stay here, especially for newcomers to Bangkok who could benefit from the assistance. |

comfy and convenient
was in bkk from feb 9-14 for an ultimate frisbee tournament, so essentially we were outside the majority of the day (after 7am) and even during the evenings because we went to parties. the room for us was a place to keep our stuff and clean up after games, and well sleep as well, with whatever time thats left to sleep ;) The guesthouse was very very close to the sukhumvit road, almost at the corner, and maybe just a bit more than 5 mins walk to the nearest BTS rail station that can take you to all the significant places along sukhumvit. an example is the Siam Square/MBK mall area (30 baht) where we practically did all our economy shopping (lots of great finds! - clothes, gadgets, food). at night go to Thong Lo station (1 stop away) and off to sukhumvit 38 to visit the dozen or so food carts where you can eat really good thai food -- check out staples such as pad thai, and tom yam. of course there are dozens upon dozens of other destinations across sukhumvit and the nearby locales, and these will be very easy to get to via the BTS or taxi from where the guesthouse is located. The owner Max is very accommodating and pleasant, and is quick to suggest places to visit and how to get there. i have not seen him more than 2 times on our 5-night stay (because we were hardly there during daytime) but he'll immediately be friendly and helpful anytime you approach him. He'll give you traveler tips too, on how to save bahts when you go around (he taught us a cheaper/faster way back to the airport). The bar downstairs serves relatively cheaper drinks too, though we did not have the chance to sample the scene while we were there. The dual room where we stayed had a big queen double mattress and was pretty comfy. the airconditioning takes a bit to cool the whole room, but theres a dandy ceiling fan that can do a preliminary job. the satellite tv was next to worthless though because it only had non-english channels, so i can only suggest to leave it on the fashion tv channel where they dont talk and at the least they can keep you company while you fall asleep. the room had lots of drawers and cabinets to stash all your stuff, just dont forget to bring them home with you. theres a safety deposit box but we couldnt work the directions. im pretty intelligent so im quite sure its not about my understanding of the directions posted on the safe :p The comfort room i was hoping was better, but it did its job so i wouldnt really complain. what it had was a nice hot shower, and a functioning pair of sink and throne, and that was that. you really just did your business and went off afterwards to more fascinating things. If i had to complain, it was just about a couple of pesky mosquitoes that took all of 5 minutes to hunt down. the air was stuffy in a room that maybe wasnt used for a couple of weeks, so i guess a couple of bloodsuckers can be expected This rating and review is calibrated to the taste of a backpacker and adventurer, and indeed if youre the kind who doesnt mind the low-key ambience, youll find that the mhc guesthouse is a very comfy and convenient home-flavored place to stay, in contrast to the usual posh multistar hotels that business trips will put you in. you get to save a whole lot too, which you can spend on your shopping/eating adventures, thats maybe probably why youre in Thailand in the first place :) Overall, quite a good and economic stay and i would be hard-pressed to consider other places when i come back. Excellent : Value. Location. Sleep Quality. Rooms. Cleanliness.Service. |

Low price wonderful location.
The location is just excellent. You are a very short & pleasant walk to the Skytrain & to the Emporium. The Emporium is a wonderful newer mall with an upscale grocery store & very nice & very large food court. The skytrain is easy to use & takes you almost anywhere you want to go in Bangkok. The smaller rooms are a great value as you can not get anything else at this price at a great location near the train. But if you can pay more go for the more expensive rooms, they are much larger & nicer. Max is friendly & is a great host. The two negatives, there are mothballs used in the lower level, probably because of drainage problems, so the property has a bit of a mothball smell. Also in the cheaper rooms, only one sheet is used, and both the sheets & towels are on the old side. Still, this is a wonderful deal because of the location & friendly host.

Not to forget Max, the owner of the house; who is a retired pilot and surely has to share some story with you. Don't expect the luxury of a hotel; you need to pull your suitcase up the narrow stairs (Of course in Asia the staffs help you). But you have the luxury of brewing your own coffee and enjoy the Bangkok street life from the hotel courtyard. We were there on the Christmas Eve and Max had thrown a party where we were also invited. Bangkok is wonderful through his eyes.

Excellent stay at MHC!
We stayed at the MHC for a week in March 2012, from getting out of the taxi the staff (Ka & Raymond) checked us in and took our bags to our room. We booked the Superior Room which was at the top of the hotel (quite a few steps up to the room so for the older guests might be better getting a room on the 2nd floor depending on your fitness). The room is large clean & tidy; no road noise as its situated away a few hundred yards away from the road. Max the owner of the MHC (retired pilot) was fantastic to have a good banter with on a morning and has a wealth of knowledge of Bangkok, if your ever stuck with somewhere to go / do he will point you in the right direction and tell you how much it will be to get there. If we go to BKK again we will definitely stay here again for the price you cannot find a cheaper / cleaner Guesthouse which offers the same service in Bangkok! |

Great location, good size room. Great service, very close to skytrain and the nightlife.
Everything went fine from the moment I got there, to when I left. Laundry service was great. Overall fine place to stay at least for a solo traveler on a budget. Nightlife Tip: Walking distance from nana plaza and soi cowboy. |

English speaking owner provides safe clean guest house
Former airline pilot provides guest house with nice rooms and reasonable prices for the area. Located near BTS sky train the location offers all the best of new and old Asia. Friendly staff is customer service minded. The owner goes over and above the call to help out with travel information. I found the guest house to be pleasantly quiet for the location. Very Happy! intend to return on my next trip. |

" Perfect location, great value for money MHC Guesthouse is located on Sukhumvit Soi 28, which is a peaceful residential area. The location is perfect, it's close to the BTS line and the Eastern Bus Station at Ekamai, and also the right side of town for the International Airport.... but it's still less than 5 minutes walk to the BTS station at Phrong Phom and only a short walk or BTS ride to the main attractions and Malls along Sukhumvit road. Max, the owner, is a retired British airline pilot and goes out of his way to make sure his guests are well catered for and don't get ripped off by taxi drivers and many of the other scams Thai's try on foreigners. After I booked, Max sent me a comprehensive introductory e-mail warning me of what to be on the look out for. My room was very spacious and had a good sized shower room. There was lots of wardrobe and drawer space, and even a safety deposit box. Max provides free tea and coffee making facilities in the bar downstairs. MHC is great value for money, Max and his staff go out of their way to help and make their guests feel at home. I originally booked for 2 nights but extended my stay to 5 nights and also stayed for a further night the following week when I returned to Bangkok. I will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Bangkok Room Tip: The rooms are all named after aircraft the owner piloted during his very long career as an airline pilot

Great location and value for Money
We weren't expecting too much as the room rates were so low but we were pleased with our beds/room - and bathroom met our needs. Importantly, the quiet cul de sac location lent to a good nights sleep yet we were 4 minutes from the skytrain and 30m from the famous Sukhumvit Rd. The staff were so friendly and helpful and Max was just as we'd imagined. Gave us great tips on things to see/how to get there/ how not to be scammed and when one of our party left their passport at the hotel Max hurried a member of staff into a taxi to the airport - and saved the day. This is the added value we needed. No question that we would go anywhere else next time we're in Bangkok. For first timers - this made our introduction to Thailand easy - might not have taken the great river boat trip nor eaten at a great local restaurant if Max had not suggested.

nice and unique hotel
good price, interesting rooms, clean, friendly staff
I must apologize about my previous review of this hotel because I simply listed only the negatives about it but none of the positives which there were many. The hotel is themed and the rooms are quite interesting each having a particular plane model and whatnot. The staff greets you every morning and are able to advise you on where to go in Bangkok. There is free coffee and tea whenever you'd like and the owner gives you his cell phone number to call if you need anything or if you wish to open up the bar. this is a good hotel in a good location, it's trafficky...but that's Bangkok |

Riding business class The airline theme of this place is great and being greeted by the former airline pilot makes you feel at home. He really makes the difference in your stay at the place. Very helpful and prepared to answer your every whim. Rooms were clean and the location was superbly next to the sky train. It was a completely opposite experience from the last time I stayed in Bangkok where I stayed in Ko San Road. You get a more local feel of the city staying on Sukhumvit.

Nice hotel with friendly staff
Max the owner providing me travel tips in and around Bangkok
my plane arrived late at four in the morning and i was able to check around five with no problems. i was very pleased to find a small independent hotel providing this degree of flexibility. the room was not fancy but it had all the things i needed to prepare for a day of sightseeing and to relax at the end of the day. though close to the sky train i found it quiet at night. it was very nice to get a personal welcome from max the owner and be provided with travel tip. this started before i arrived with an e-mail on my options to get to the hotel. my late arrival forced me to use a cab but i plan to try the public transit option the next time i visit. i recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. |

Excellent!
This is a simple place with excellent service and location. The building is decorated with toy airplanes, and each room is named after an airplane the owner had flown when he workeds a pilot. When we arrived he came to greet us, and he was extremely kind. He was so helpful giving us directions, maps, phone number, etc. Our room had AC, tv, two bottles of water- no charge,a small refrigerator, and it was very clean and comfortable. The location is great, being close to markets, the mall and the skytrain.

Perfect location and comfy rooms
Two blocks away from the BTS station
MHC Guesthouse has comfy clean rooms and is only two and a half blocks walk from the BTS station. Captain Max is a great host with lots of advice and tips on getting around Bangkok. The walls are thin and the floors are wood so not great if you're a light sleeper because you will hear the other guests coming in late. The rooms were really comfy and clean though and being set back from the main road were pretty quiet otherwise. |

Excellent Location, value, staff
The MHC had all the essentials for me: awesome location, great staff, clean rooms, free wifi, and excellent value. The MHC is tucked away on soi 28, just a short distance from Sukhumvit, which is a main road. Even though the MHC is close to a major artery, traffic noise wasn't an issue. The Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain station is less than a 5 minute walk away. Just 2 stops from Phrom Phrom station is the Ekamai station, where you can catch buses heading to Pattaya and Koh Samet and Trat and Koh Chang. Only a block and half away is a great little restaurant with cheap but very good Thai food. Many other dining options are close by and easily reached on foot. If you want to see a movie in English, get some good food and shop till you're broke, The Emporium mall is less than a 10 minute walk away. Max, the owner of the MCH, is an English speaking expat, and can be relied on for all manner of information about Bangkok life. Max has a small staff of wonderful and knowledgeable local people who speak very good English, and can also provide much information about getting around the city. Rooms are clean, spacious, and serviced daily. TV, AC, a mini fridge and safe are in each room. Wifi works in the rooms. Bathrooms are not wet room style, which is nice. There is a small bar area if you want to sit and have a cold Thai beer or a foreign import. In short, I highly recommend MHC Guesthouse. If I had three thumbs, I'd give this place three thumbs up. Hotel Feature Tip: MHC is a breeze to get to from BKK airport. Just take the airport link to Phaya Thai station, then connect with the BTS and head to BTS Phrom Phong station. From Phrom Phrong, it's less than a 5 minute walk. If you take a cab from BKK, all the cab drivers will try to rip you off. |

"Home away from home.
I stayed in this guesthouse between May 5 and 11, 2012 when I attended the Rotary International Convention in Bangkok. It was my first visit to this city that never sleeps and I wanted a place that meets my needs for space, convenience, good access to transportation, shopping area but away from the 35,000 other Rotarians at the convention with me. MHC met these requirements! Tucked away on Soi 28 in the high brow district of Sukhumvit, MHC Guesthouse was the perfect accommodation for me...awesome place in a choice location in the city of Bangkok at an affordable rate! The personal touch and warmth of the owner, Mr Max and his assistant Ka made my stay a rewarding experience that I look forward to again. On day one of my stay, I saved some baht when I was offered a good double room instead of a superior room earlier booked and on the last day of my stay, I was willing offered the use of the room for extra hours for a token. A room that has all I need for a comfortable stay...hot shower, airconditioning, cable television for news, WIFI internet facility, a safe for my valuables, a big bed and ample space to move around. This is a place I would call a home away from home.
Room Tip: Ask for a double room. The price is worth the room experience. |

Pleasure to have stayed here
Im sorry to Max that its taken so long to leave a review! I definitely recommend this place. Our holiday was booked whilst the flooding was still an issue in November 2011. Max was a true life line before we went as we were able to correspond with him to find out more about the situation - he certainly put our mind to rest and everything he said was accurate - the central parts were absolutely fine! He replied very promptly and was very patient with all the questions and concerns we had.
As for our arrival Mex was very welcoming and provided a brilliant service - we had huge delays on our way out and arrived first thing in the morning, half a day light and very tired. He went out of his way to get a spare room ready for us so we could have a sleep whilst we waited for the room we booked to become available. Because of our delay we missed our first night and as I was able to warn Max he booked the room so we didnt have to pay for cancelling - what a help that was.
Great prices, nice room and a good location. |

Best budget place in Sukhumvit
I loved my stay in MHC. The staff here in MHC (Ka and Bryan) are very friendly. Especially Ka helped me with getting around in BKK. Ka is a Thai girl and can speak good English. They let us do a early check-in at 8am as they had a room available, we stayed there for two days and enjoyed every bit. The BTS is in walkable distance. You have spas and restaurants around.
I highly recommend this place.

It's worth the stay! We stayed in this hotel for two nights from 13th to 15th July. We have chosen the family room because I traveled with my mom and sis. The manager, Ms. Ka has always been very helpful to our needs. Also, Bryan, the Filipino staff assisted us sincerely. The location was excellent as it was very near to the city center and BTS station. In our next visit to Bangkok, we will definitely stay again in Mile High Club (MHC) Guesthouse! |

Good location - good nights sleep
Pros: Walking distance to BTS and therefore a network of places in bangkok for cheap, including airport train connection and major malls and markets. Far enough back from Sukhumvit on a very quiet side street that traffic noise is greatly reduced, probably even moreso if you have a back room. Staff friendly and helpful as others have said, laundry service good. I had the deluxe room (Boeing 767!) with King+single, nice comfortable bed, quiet aircon and fan, room equipped with decent fridge, sink and the makings of tea/coffee. Bathroom quite modern with big bonus of a proper shower, all very clean. MHC covers all the basic needs well. Wifi is a handy bonus. Cons: disappointed that breakfast not available - maybe thats normal in Thailand but everywhere else ive been in SEA included some kind of breakfast. A nearby cafe was recommended but it was rather poor value of rmoney i thought. At least with the facilities at MHC i was able to buy milk and cereal at the supermarket and have brekky in the room. Deluxe room on 4th floor - not so much fun lugging bags up and down the steep stairs. other thoughts: A really nice 'local' resturant halfway to the BTS station had good thai food and beer at local prices, owners very friendly! Also street food vendors around for extra fun. Took a tour booked through MHC which covered what it said, but included a few extra stops to try to convince us to buy stuff at commission-prices, reducing the time available at the key attractions.. Max was helpful and interested in our feedback on said tour. Very good to deal with, would have liked to have spent some more time there. My wants are clean, quiet, comfortable, aircon-if-hot and inexpensive in that order, and i'd stay at MHC again. |

Great value and good location
Stayed for a week in June / July and great value. Location very near BTS stations, so easy to get around. Set back from Sukhumvit, so is quiet. Parking available if you need. Good restaurant for breakfast just round the corner on Sukhumvit, and handy for the Soi 31 entertainment. Went at low season, so the bar was quiet, but the manager Ms Ka was amazingly helpful, car hire, taxis, local tips etc, etc. Wireless Internet throughout. All round excellent value. Look forward to the aeroplane appearing in the bar Max ....... |

Great value for money Stayed here in June 2012 for a night. The room is spacious and super clean! Nothing fancy about it but you can't expect more for the price you pay. I think this is the best place I ever stayed for this price in Bangkok. And it has free wifi in the room. Location is great and very close to the skytrain Phrom Pong. The only thing I found noisy was the air conditioner sound outside my window. Loud enough to make my sleep not well |

excellent hotel
I had previously been in another hotel in Bangkok which did not help me too much and I ended up wasting a fortune in taxis everywhere (many of which got lost). My experience of the MHC was totally different. I received a lot of help in getting around Bangkok cheaply and the staff in this hotel were amazing. Max has a great sense of humour and never failed to cheer me up and Ga helped me greatly. she would write directions for me in Thai and tell me where I needed to go to get things. Brian, Gerry and Shirley were all great people too. I really recommend this hotel. it is great value too. William from Glasgow |

Safe/quiet hotel w/ personal attention from owner
Hot water; clean room; location
As many others have written, Max and his staff will help you with directions, logistics etc. - if you ask for help. The hotel is not fancy - which is fine in my book. MHC (Mile High Club) does have clean rooms with bathrooms that work 100% fine - nice water pressure and hot water. I was there for a few days (including a weekend), and the hotel was quiet at night. So for me, MHC has the basics covered well for the independent traveler. The location is also good - you can walk directly to the different malls in Bangkok along Sukhamvit - so the location of the hotel is good. Make sure to visit the web site of the hotel - good directions and a map are available there - and instructions (in Thai) to present to cab drivers at the international airport so you don't get overcharged coming into town. MHC is getting increasingly popular - so make sure to book in advance as well... |

I stayed for one night in this hotel. There is no denying this place offers good value for money. It is situated in Sukhumvit Rd, 5 mins from a BTS station. The location is excellent, very safe, hotel clean, with all the amenities you need, staff, very helpful and hospitable. The owner was not in but he has trained them well.
What more do you need? Price? Very cheap for this location.
There is a very good and reasonably priced Chinese restaurant near there, just go to Sukhumvit Rd and turn left for 5 mins.
Thank you MHC for extending me your kindness and hospitality. |

And it looks likely that I will be able to leave a good review then ! Just as there are many more recent good reviews for Max and all the people at MHC on Trip Advisor where I first discovered MHC.
I am very much looking forward to my stay there |

I have been staying at this guest house in 2012, 2014, 2015 and I hope to stay here for a few days later in 2016. This guesthouse is something special. Its old but very well maintained ans very clean. The beds in my rooms is so far the most comfortable I have slept in my Asia trip so far. I have a bad back and still slept like a child without any pain when I wake up here! The cabinets in the rooms are also large enough for even longer stay. The owner and staff is also very welcoming, attentive and helpful. They help you with any information and sightseeing. I even got a instruction on email for the taxi driver to drive me the cheapest way from the airport to the guesthouse. Sukhumvit street is a busy street with lots of special shops, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping malls. But Soi 28 is a very quiet and safe street with some old buildings and some new, and a brand new high end high rise office/condo as the nearest neighbor across the street. Its also close to many nice restaurants and the nearest Sky Train station is only about 5-7 minutes slow walk away. I will certainly stay here when I return to Bangkok. You simply don't get a better bed, management or staff even in a 5 star hotel! |
